Currently, thousands of women have filed lawsuits across the country against J&J alleging the company failed to warn women and their families of the dangers of talcum powder. While talcum powder product labels warn against inhalation, they do not warn consumers about the dangers of external use.
A study published The Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaeology in March 1971 found that 75 percent of the ovarian tumor tissue studied contained particles of talc. Since that time, numerous studies have suggested that minute talc particles can migrate from the vaginal areas to the ovaries where they embed deep within the tissue.
